0316. R.E.M.
Automatic For The People
So, the lads in R.E.M:s back again and this time I know I'll hate one of the tracks from the very beginning! I'm of course talking about Everybody Hurts, which was such a massive hit that nobody could avoid getting it rammed into their ears at one time or another (or, more frequently, both).
But they make up for it by starting off the album with Drive, one of the songs on par with Document and some of the songs on Green, a pure pleasure to listen to.
But there are a couple of songs that doesn't seem to fit the R.E.M. (mold would be the wrong term so I'll go with) hight standard. Star Me Kitten is a track I don't understand at all. It sounds like the lesser ones on Murmur and I'm starting to worry that I'm turning into one of those pseudo-elitist hipster guys.
It's far from their best work, but still a decent album (and Drive is an excellent song).
