0283. Hanoi Rocks
Back To Mystery City
Hanoi Rocks were probably the most influential thing to come out of Finland since, well, since forever and released four albums before their split (due, in part, to drummer Razzle's Mötley Crüe-caused death).
A lot of the music sounds like it was ad lib'ed in the studio and the singing's not the greatest (Michael Monroe's voice doesn't have much of a range), but they pack a whole lot of attitude into the songs.
While Ice Cream Summer and a couple of more aren't top notch songs the majority are some damn energetic tracks (even the mellow semi-ballad Until I Get You), so what can I say? It's Finnish glam / sleaze rock that launched the proverbial thousand ships, cause the number of (successful) acts crediting Hanoi Rocks is a list that seems to go on forever (among others Guns 'N Roses who stole a couple of riffs to make their Paradise City).
