Close To The Edge
We've taken a dive into progressive rock earlier on the list, and compared to Genesis or Pink Floyd this is a lighter, more even and accessible form of prog. Almost infinitely more interesting and not even half as long as the Genesis tombstone while lacking the instantly recognisable songs from the Pink Floyd monolith.
This is three tracks of intense musicianship, the first two divided into four chapters each, with the first (title) track spanning the entire A-side. Influenced by Herman Hesse and with a flare for the more symphonial (yeah, that's not really a word, is it) in life, Yes makes this an album to play on repeat for a long time. This could very well be summed up in the words "eclectic" and "dreamy".
