After a bit of searching I found the answer to the most pressing of questions: "What the hell is a 'hoople'?" Turns out it's a vagrant, a hobo. I.e. quite a bit away from the glam-part of what they're categorized as, but possibly an indication of how they viewed what they played. Cause this isn't just a glam-rock album in the "come on, come on"-ish way that Slayed? is, but also contains some Ziggy Stardust-y tracks and even a completely non-glam-song.
It's nice that music still has the ability to throw me off: the outro on Whizz Kid is such an abrupt volume-change it makes me wonder if a fuse has quit. I don't know why they did it, but I somehow like it. The wierdest feeling, however, is when I Wish I Was Your Mother rolls in and I associate to Bob Dylan, cause it's something in the way Ian Hunter sings that feels very dylanesque. Interesting...
