0053. Miles Davis
Kind Of Blue
Miles Davis - again!
After yesterday's disappointment it feels good that the random album generator picked something to make the pain go away.
Kind Of Blue is an album from a couple of years before Miles started experimenting with fusion. A bit more classical modal jazz and it's appearently also an album that outsold everything else on the jazz scene (i.e. four times platinum - and that in an age when that actually meant humongous numbers). And I can see the appeal (well, hear it, really) cause the semi-free form of the music (limited only by the scales the performers got assigned) quickly whisks me away.
It's a fantastic album, just like In A Silent Way, but in a different way. My prediction is that the list will have a lot more Milesstones (see what I did there?), but that it'll never sound the same. And that suits me just fine.
