Heavy Weather

One major indicator of whether you're listening to fusion or not is if there's a phat synthesizer laying town some lines - in this case it's either a Rhoades or an Oberheim.

Problem is, this is the kind of fusion that's given the genre a bad rep - like the more annoying examples of prog rock Heavy Weather doesn't seem to be recorded with any sense of knowing when to take a time out and think about what's going on.

The result in this case is so slick and far away from what Miles did that I can't believe it's part of the same universe.

As a hobby-bassist it feels so damn wrong to say it, but I really don't like the sound Pastorius' gets out of the fretless, it just feels wrong.
