0938. Frank Sinatra
Songs For Swingin' Lovers!
Apart from unsuccessfully trying to avoid telling you that this album's title might have been misconstrued if released today, I do have to say that this is a one-eighty turn from the previous album, In The Wee Small Hours.
Where Wee… was woeful, Songs… swings stupendously with an often sunshine mood. An album about falling in love, being in love and, in the case of Makin' Whoopie, getting married and wash dishes just to get make some whoopie.
With tracks like I've Got You Under My Skin and How About You? (which name-checks the Gershwin bros, composers of another song on the album, Love Is Here to Stay) Songs For Swingin' Lovers! feels like such classic Sinatra that I'm not surprised that some people regard this his best album (some even say it's the best album of all time, but, well…).
