The Cramps were the original psychobillies and their debut shows a well-formed band which, since their start four years earlier managed to carve out a niche all of their own. As you might expect they're not the most wholesome outfit either - the music's punked out fifties rockabilly and the lyrics range from dismemberment to U.F.O. parenting via pubescent lycanthropy.
In short they're what Rocket From The Crypt whish they were - an old horror flick turned to sound.
Also, I'll have to go back on the parenthesis from The Sonics (who, of course, were an inspiration for The Cramps): the psychobillies actually did get it right with this band.
