0858. Paul McCartney
McCartney
So, what to do on a day off - maybe release that album of home recordings that you never quite finished and quit that annoying band that hasn't even played live for years?
If you're an average musician in an average band, this of course wouldn't bring any headlines, but as this was Paul McCartney of The Beatles' fame it was worldwide news.
And as the album that shut down The Beatles (the deal was each member had to get permission from the rest of the band on releasing any own material), this is of course an obvious entry in pop music history, more of what it was part of (the Beatle-break process), than its content (an assortment of demos mostly dedicated to then-wife Linda).
While some of the tracks, mostly the instrumentals, actually are rather good it mostly is, as they say, kremlinology.
