0830. Gotan Project
La Revancha del Tango

Fusing tango with breakbeats is actually a good idea.
The juxtaposition of the bandoneón and loops give the
Argentinan dance a new dimension (and one that would have
made me enjoy that tango class first date scenario a bit
more back in Y2K).
The Gotan Project got together in Paris with members from Agentina, Switzerland, and France and made their debut with this "revenge of the tango" - an album full of tracks that has since been used for commercials, unfortunately.
The songs are deserving of a better fate than selling cleaning supplies, but choosing one track to represent the best in the album, it'd have to be Época with its nicely timed fills and loops.
