Truth And Soul
Another band that's jumping across the spectrum going from funk, to ska, metal and punk, Fishbone manages to be both almost clownish and serious at once.
For the most part Truth And Soul is a frantic album with the one and a half minute Subliminal Fascism as the most obvious example, but Ghetto Soundwave and even Change show, at least in their subject matters, some ill at ease and nervousness about the society they live in (even though the latter has a hopeful outlook).
The funk-metalized version of Freddie's Dead really shouldn't have been put on wax. It's so obvious they love the song, but want to make a version that's "theirs" that they just mess it up.
Live they're a tough act to follow, and on vinyl they're pretty good too.
