I was totally convinced that Youssou N'Dour had been on the list before (and no, I'm not thinking of Baaba Mal, cause even though they're both Senegalese, they're not to be confused).

This is fast paced mbalax without concern for the Western radio market - the songs are long, repetitive, and with rhythm patterns that has little to none to do with the pop-schema of our hitlists.

Immigrés came out during a time when N'Dour started to get traction, somewhere between him being famous locally and an international star, playing with Peter Gabriel and (a lot of) others.

Unfortunately I can't really get into it (sounds like dad-music), but I do apprecieate the crafting of it.
