0820. Tom Waits
Rain Dogs
The follow up to Swordfishtrombones continues the bumpy path of banging the radiators to get the perfect clunk.
It also follows in its predecessor's path in that it features tracks that completely fall out of the frame and drops into the "regular rock" category. On this, it's (among others) Hang Down Your Head and Time that back to back brakes the stride of the album something fiercely.
It's still hard describing the sound without using some truly horrible similes, so I'll just say the album's a nice one for the ears.
The guest appearances by Keith Richards on Big Black Mariah as well as Union Square and Blind Love are of varying success - the former are of the Waits-sound while the latter is another one of those damned regular songs.
