0798. Chic
Risqué
Immideately starting the album with a riff we all know and adore, the eight minute Good Times got sampled to the Sugarhill Gang's Rapper's Delight.
The trouble is, in the extended disco tracks that makes up the lion's share of Risqué there's not enough lyrics to go round, and since it's main goal is to move butts the music's embellished at times, but without prominent displays of virtuosity (like they had on Savoir Faire off the C'est Chic).
Now, don't misunderstand: it's very well crafted compositions, but due to the chosen constraints it's just too controlled for my tastes.
So, well, disco doesn't suck, but it's just a bit to timid in this version.
