Another reason why "the lone auteur" is trope better left to the rats, The Fall turns out to be a significantly better band when it's a band and not just one guy.
Here they fit more nicely in the postpunk category and the singer actually sounds like he wants to say something and not just filling out dead air.
In other words: this is a fully acceptable album. Sad it couldn't continue like that as the rest of the band had walked out long before the album was released (and in some cases before it was even completely recorded), and thus the singer was alone and made the most of it.
