It wasn't till the title track started (the third song, no less)
that I realized I actually had head Grant Lee Buffalo before.
Prior to that I was a bit amazed that I hadn't.
And now I'm a bit miffed that I didn't listen to 'em way back
when.
In spite of some very obvious rhymes and a danger of tripping into Iris-territory (you remember the Goo Goo Dolls, right?) Grant Lee Buffalo stays clear of the potholes and delivers an album of little stories told over good Americana. And while there's more than a hint of Sweet Home Alabama in Dixie Drug Store it's still their own thing.
Looking forward to hearing their later albums later on (cause the debut can't be the only one in the book, right?).
