A musical opportunist with a serious fingerspitzgefühl for hits, Madonna's changed both herself and people's favorite dance moves for a couple of decades now.
With this, from the late nineties, she had picked up on the club elements of the time and thus it's a bit of breakbeats, some trip hop and general electronics all 'round (that's what you get for teaming up with William Orbit).
And while the title track (the intro of which reminds me of The Cure's Boys Don't Cry) is mainly annoying, there are better songs. The semi-ballads Skin and Frozen are clearly the top tracks of the lot and while none of them are nearly as controversial as Like A Prayer, they're good enough to give the album the okay.
