0658. Paul Simon
Hearts And Bones
Intended to be the Simon & Garfunkel reunion album, but with
those plans scrapped due to "creative differences", Paul Simon
revamped Hearts And Bones into his sixth solo album instead.
Here we can hear the distinct influence of the eighties on our
hero - yes, there are synthesizers! (and all the problems they
bring when combined with guitar-based pop)
It starts good enough with Allergies and the title track, but
then sort of slowly degrades throughout. Not that it ever gets
bad, it's just that it gets a bit, well, the same.
Still, an album that's a medium point in Paul Simon's carreer
would be considered a high point in almost anyone elses
discography.
And don't worry, the synths aren't on every track.
