0641. Jah Wobble's Invaders Of The Heart
Rising Above Bedlam
Now here's a guy who made the correct carreer choice. Starting out as the bassist of the godawful Public Image Limited, but quitting after realizing the (so called) band wasn't, well, creative at all.
This is his twelfth release, about a decade after leaving, and sure, it's far better than anything on the PIL albums, but still not more than a guy making dubbed out world music and being connected enough to get Sinéad O'Connor to do guest vocals. [fact check: seems like Natacha Atlas is also kickin' it with Wobble, that's another bonus]
It's middle eastern melodies and jamaican bass and very pleasant, but not something that makes me go Wow! (Also, Wonderful World reminds me a bit too much of George Michael's Faith. It's just the way he sings it, I guess.)
