All That You Can't Leave Behind

A lot of water'd flowed under the bridge and diluted everything remotely associated with righteous anger since War and The Joshua Tree. In other words: they might be as much of activists as ever, but it doesn't show in the music. What's left is stadium rock (co-produced by Brian Eno) - catchy stadium rock, but still not quite the same.

Okay, so Walk On is dedicated to Aung San Suu Kyi, but nothing in the lyrics even hint it, so if you aren't privy to the mythos around the band (or notice that the video contains both an excerpt from a Suu Kyi interview and Bono wearing a T-shirt with her likeness) you'll just never know (or maybe you'll think it's the official 9/11 song, like 1001 albums you must hear... does).

But still, it's a good album - if you don't repeat-listen to it a lot, cause it gets blander by each consecutive run.
Best applied in small doses.
