0599. The Crickets
The ”Chirping” Crickets
And now: the band that inspired The Beatles (and loads more). Yes, we're once again way back in the fifties! With the mighty name The Crickets, a dapper young man called Buddy Holly, together with three just as well-groomed youngsters, took on the world and became teenage heart-throbs.
And the defining word for this album is "cute", cause it's
cute music - rock for adolescents, whether it's for wooing that
special someone or just dreaming of that special someone.
I don't think I really can explain how cute I think it is that
the titular "Chirping" is in quotes. I's like they really want
to denote that it's just a metaphor - that they're not really
chirping, but using actual instruments. Also pretty cute how
they all stand around on the cover in what seems like daddy's
suits.
The songs are short, cute, and for the most part original material take that, every pop/rock'n'roll act that followed). And Even though Buddy died just a couple of years (and one album) later, the band's continued ever since.
