Playing With Fire
This is a case of what can go wrong when a band gets into a studio with a bunch of cool effects. Much like founding member Jason Pierce's later project Spiritualized, this there's a whole lot of reverb going on.
It actually sounds better blurred through a laptop's speakers
than on a stereo with high-end headphones picking up each
individual track of the mix.
And in the outro of I Believe It the whole band's gone off the
rockers and sound like a bunch of thirteen-year olds with
rock star dreams. A bit too much drugs and not enough
fresh air in the studio, I guess.
The only track that doesn't seem so off is Suicide, an eleven-minute instrumental that they decided to include twice on the album (one is a live version).
