0578. Suba
São Paulo Confessions
This entry's probably got less to do with the album itself
than the previous work and the fate of the man behind it.
São Paulo Confessions is Suba's last album as he died in
a fire in the studio, trying to save the recordings he just
did with Bebel Gilberto for her Tanto Tempo
album.
And this is sort of the same style, more suited for the chillout zone than the dancefloor. As a comparison we can hear similar sounds in Um Dia Comum as the ones the Prodigy used, but with more chill than fire and I guess that suited Suba just fine.
A huge influence on crosspollinated Brazilian music, he not only got a tribute album shortly after his death, but also a non-profit organization dedicated to his memory.
