0570. Steely Dan
Countdown To Ecstasy
Almost only half as many guests and session musicians as on Aja, and not as laden with familiar samples, Steely Dan's second album is a bit different than I expected.
Starting off with a boogie called Bodhisattva and continuing with pop-jazz and country influences its actually an okay album. It's less meticulous than latter releases, but that only means that it sounds more like they're really into what they're doing.
Still, juxtaposing lyrics about hoping cities will drown with up-beat melodies could be considered evil by some.
