0553. The Rolling Stones
The Rolling Stones
The eponymous debut by the band called The Rolling Stones bear no identifying markers on the cover but for the image of the band themselves (this of course was changed for the U.S. market, with both the band's name and a new album title, England's Newest Hit Makers, slabbed on there in big yellow letters - very subtle).
And while this isn't an Exile On Main St., it's still an okay album. A collection of their favorite R&B songs, delivered in the cocky Stones way, this might not be all the rage today, but bear in mind that this was released at the same time The Beatles were still singing about being happy just to get a dance. Okay, so the Stones only wrote just about one and a half of the songs here, but still: nice to hear how the old geezers started out.
