0550. The Dandy Warhols
...The Dandy Warhols Come Down
The Dandy Warhols' second album broke them through big time - or rather, the second single Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth did. And it's kind of telling that neither the first nor the third single stuck anywhere (okay, so one of 'em got into the soundtrack of There's Something About Mary, but I can't really say I remember it from there either) - their knack for writing hit-singles just seem to come around once every few years.
To be blunt: If they'd just removed the pop-tracks and concentrated on the psychedelia, this'd be pretty good.
I think it's a kind of decent album actually. The psychedelia-tinged tracks are pleasant and probably will stand the test of time far better than the rest of the lot (a fact that can be witnessed even today, but who's nitpicky enough to point it out?)
