0519. Elvis Costello And The Attractions
Blood And Chocolate
Holy mother of WTF!? This is Costello's eleventh album since the debut ten years earlier (coincidentally it's also, at the moment, halfway through his studio-discography, and also his sixth album on this list).
Maybe he should just have chilled the hell out and
taken some time off between recording sessions, cause
I (once again) can't say I'm so amazed by Declan's lyrical
prowess that I think all his albums deserve to be here.
Maybe this is notable cause he's back with The Attractions
after a short sejour without them or maybe it's noteable
cause this is the last time he played with The Attractions
until Brutal Youth, eight years later. I honestly don't
know.
The only track that hits anywhere close to home is Next Time Around, the last song on the album. It's actually a sort of standard heartbroken tune, but in company of the previous ten interchangeable songs it's a welcome end.
