Violent Femmes

Eponymous debut-time again and this time it's the Violent Femmes who, just turned twenty-ish, were discovered by The Pretenders and quickly signed to a punk-label.
The music's post-punk that at times it reminds me of the Swedish band Rasta Hunden (1979-1980) which, of course, is a stamp of approval. Cause in the approach to both music and lyrics there's a big chunk of "do it or break it"-attitude that pretty much sums up the best way of being a teenage boy with a yearning.
Hugely successful for an alternative act, they even have crossed over and
inspired among others Gnarls Barkley (who covered Gone Daddy Gone
on their debut).
I got to say this is a very strong debut indeed.
