The Atomic Mr. Basie
Dispite the big band era of the ballrooms being bust after WWII, Basie banged on. The Count had disbanded his orchestra for a while, but put it together again in the early fifties to get in on the jukebox-deals (okay, so it wasn't exactly the same crew, but, you know).
And while this sounds about two decades older than its contemporaries it's not dated, just vintage. It's music to dance to and to romance to, with first track The Kid From The Red Bank as an example of the former and last track Lil' Darlin as a great example of the latter.
The music might have been out of style for a while, but in hindsight there's no reason why.
