0440. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan & Party
Devotional Songs
Another album of religious music, the qawwali of sufist Nusrat isn't the thing to party to (oh, and by the way, the "& Party" in the headline isn't referring to a shindig of some sorts, but the qawwali-band Nusrat was the leader of).
And well, compared to protestant hymns there's a bit more of a pop-quality to it, especially the intro of Yaad-E-Nabi Gulshan Mehka, which sounds a bit like Brown Eyed Girl with an Eastern flair, and Haq Ali Ali Haq, that could have been the intro of any (and all?) good Eagles' song.
This is however an album I'm kind of happy I don't understand the lyrics of, since I'm pretty far from "devotional" in nature, so for anyone who (like me) can listen to it as if they just sang notes instead of words, it's a fully functional album.
