0427. Björk
Medúlla
So, this far we've heard almost half of her solo-discography as Björk's back on the
list. This time with deep thoughts like "your sweat is salty, I am why" (Oceania)
and "c'hh" (Ancestors). I guess it's the logical next step if we try to extrapolate
from the arc between Debut and Vespertine as the
fourteen tracks vary from almost-structured to almost-chaotic.
The exception is Who Is It (also released as a single) which actually sounds like an
honest attempt at a pop song, but most are aimed at sounding otherwise.
Yes, some of them are cool (listen to the background of Triumph Of A Heart), but mostly it's ruined (or sabotaged?) by going to far with the genius idea of a capella singing mixed with beatboxing and vocal loops [fact check: 1001 albums you must hear... claims the only instrument used on this album is a gong when it's actually a gong, a piano, synth bass and guitar as well as sequenced drums].
Reading up on Medúlla it's apparently highly political with references to nineleven.
Nice to know.
