0418. Fatboy Slim
You've Come A Long Way Baby
Borrowing the big big beat style from compadres The Chemical Brothers, a couple of crates of vinyl and a bit of production equipment Fatboy Slim set out to rule the world with this one.
Four of the tracks were singles and all of'em soared on the charts and some of 'em are of course better than other. In the first category there's Right Here, Right Now and in the latter htere's The Rockafeller Skank...
Okay, it was a sort of okay track when it came out, but the novelty quickly waned for us sporting a 'fro due to every (and I do mean every) non-fro-sporting Tom, Dick and Harriet thought it was just hi-lar-i-ous to crack a joke about some "funk soul brother" or mess with the hair.
This is, however, a big beat album that's aged a bit better than both of the Chemical Brothers', but at the same time, the Bros' have got a couple of tracks that still beats any of the hits here big time. On the other hand, Fatboy Slim did remix Cornershop's Brim Full Of Asha into the big break for the band.
