0414. The Jesus And Mary Chain

Last time we heard from these guys it was on their 1985 album Psychocandy a year and a half ago, and since then they've replaced the drummer (who was a major benefactor to the sound of the previous album) with a drum machine and the grinding guitars with more melodic stuff. I.e. from a raging niose pop band to more of a standard alternative pop band.
This, combined with Jim Reid sounding more bored than ever (making the three tracks where his brother William's on the mic the best on the album) sadly only manages to make it a lesser album than its predecessor.
Mostly it's kind of boring.
