Crime Of The Century
Prog-rockers Supertramp...
On this album they kind of fall in the Genesis-trap: grandstanding
and creating "epic" songs with a "deeper meaning" and yada yada yada. But where they
differ from Genesis, though, is in the shortest song, Dreamer. A relatively simple
organ-driven pop-piece with Roger Hodgson singing lead (and according to Wikipedia
a track written when Roger was just a teen) it's a whole different ballgame than the
drama-compositions.
Also Dreaming's probably where they realized that the prog-sound wasn't cutting it
for them as they went on to record more hits with the same type of sound.
If it wasn't for that one song I'd said this wasn't an album to hear, but as it is
now you might want to hear the moment where a band decides to go for the money.
