0394. Rage Against The Machine
Rage Against The Machine
From the first notes of Bombtrack I get chills of anticipation. And then the
riff explodes into pure adrenaline.
This is yet another album from the golden age when all music was good (except
for the bad, which was horrible) coinciding with me being around fifteen/
sixteen years old os so.
Rage Agaionst The Machines eponymous debut album is the nexus of fantastic stuff: revolutionary pathos, lyrical ethos and high-intensity music. Sadly the bad thing about this album is giving acts like Limp Bizkit the idea that they too could make important music.
But let's not dwell on it, cause this is far too great to get dragged down by some copycats. When Maynard from Tool (who suspiciously are absent from the list this far) starts singing in Know Your Enemy there's no way I can keep cool and okay, I know I'm gonna get some wierd looks after this, but the intro of Killing In The Name always reminds me of the Ghostbusters movie theme (by Ray Parker Jr.) But besides that it's a heavy, energetic track with a minimum of lyrics repeated over and over again to drive the point home, climaxing in defiance: Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me.
This is the soundtrack to the revolution - whether it's in your mind or on the streets it's a GotToGet.
