In It For The Money

Supergrass are back, with a couple of years under the belt and a bit less reliant on catchy hooks than on I Should Coco (and a bit more jaded perhaps?). Here, they successfully attempt to prove to themselves that they're not just a one hit wonder as In It For The Money is a very nice second album (apparently outselling the debut).
But (there's always a but, isn't there?) it doesn't really lift off until the second half where bring out the real songwriting, with the tracks Cheapskate, Hollow Little Reign and the let's-play-around-in-the-studio-experimentation of Sometimes I Make You Sad (still creating a fairly straight Brit-pop track, though) as three pretty good examples.
But (again with the buts!) I like it, they show they can evolve and they've got a hang of the rock-life.
Thumbs up, lads.
