Foo Fighters
After Kurt shot himself, thus leaving Nirvana without, frontman, singer and writer, Krist Novoselic wound up in politics and Dave Grohl went on to become one of the best selling drummers ever.
Single-handedly recorded by Dave, the Foo Fighters debut is an album of pop-rock (or rock-pop) with enough rawness to be considered rebellious by the target group, while at the same time having enough melodies and being harmless enough to not scare them away.
In my opinion Grohl going from the remains of Nirvana to form Foo Fighters is like George Harrison going from the remains of The Beatles to form Wings (oh, right, McCartney did that - What the Hell, Mac?!). Cause, yeah, this isn't a dangerous album at all - it doesn't bring anything new or exciting to the table, but it's okay as background music.
