0328. Franz Ferdinand
Franz Ferdinand

Whaddyaknow? Here's another bunch of Scots, but do they measure up to yesterday's success?
Well, no. It isn't until the third song, their hit single Take Me Out, that I begin to care about this self-titled debut, but after that it's a-O.K.
Coincidentally it's also the track where the disco style drums make their appearance, and as they linger on for just about the rest of the album I guess I'll credit drummer / percussionist Paul Thomson for dragging the rest of the band up a notch or two. Also the bassist deserves some love, cause while Franz Ferdinand's got nice melodies and vocals it's the rhythm-section and the tempo-changes that clinches it.
Sometimes almost too artsy, but they pull through alright.
