0299. David Gray
White Ladder
Five seconds into it I start to resent this album.
Please Forgive Me (the first track) is exactly the kind of drek that killed drum'n'bass as it got more associated with pathetic sing-songwriters like David Gray (and I'm looking at you too, Owl City) who think they are edgy by hijacking the beats and watering them down (and yes, why don't we throw a goddamned house-clap into it to really slaughter any kind of lingering listenability).
And then I check the tracklist.
Yep, this is the same musical placebo that spawned that Sail Away - a flagship for emotionless pseudo-music.
The original UK release of this album also contains a hidden track (put before the first one), which, by all means can stay hidden for all I care - fifty minutes of this is enough.
And as White Ladder draws to a close with a cover of Soft Cells Say Hello, Wave Goodbye I'm not really sorry to say this, Mr. Gray, but you're a douche.
