0165. The Hives
Your New Favourite Band
The Hives are one of the premier live acts to ever come out of Sweden, but I still think it's a bit unusual to have a compilation on the list, but hey - whatever floats your boat!
With tracks chosen from albums Barely Legal and Veni Vidi Vicious as well as the A.K.A. I-D-I-O-T EP it's a powerhouse of riff-based garage-rock that clocks in at under half an hour.
It's fast, it's furious, it's tightly controlled and with a big scoop of cocky, punk attitude it's just great.
With tracks like Supply And Demand, Main Offender and (of course) A.K.A. I-D-I-O-T, it just can't go wrong. The only drawback is that it's just an album and not a live-set in my livingroom.
By the way: it's another miss in the book, 1001... claims that this was released in 2002 - a year after the fact. Details, I know, but still.

…and then this was for some unimaginable reason removed from the list.
Replaced by:
Richard Hawley
Coles Corner
Hmm… So the last three of the 2008 replacements are retro albums? Also, if my aim had been to build up to greatness, they've been coming in reversed order, cause this is less interesting than Aguilera's album (which in turn was less interesting than Winehouse's album).
This reminds me of a couple of other albums on the list too, the ones where an instrumentalis dude creates dramatic music and gives me the feeling he just doesn't care (I'm looking at you Divine Comedy).
It's just so boring I can't really focus on it, even though it's so well crafted.
