0065. Stevie Wonder
Fulfillingness' First Finale
Stevie Wonder again and allitteration aside an album almost all void of obvious singles. That, however, doesn't mean that the songs aren't good - only that this is an album you'll listen to a couple of times before finding your favourites. The mix of soul, funk and r'n'b is still there, exactly where it should be, and Stevie's always Stevie, with a song-style that fascinates me (like, for instance, the fact that in the melismas he goes down where almost everyone else would go up. Very elegant!).
Also - I say "almost no singles" since there's one track that stands out from the rest: You Haven't Done Nothin' (yet another Nixon-bashing song! 1974 just wasn't Nixon's year) has a funky riff reminischent of Superstition from the earlier release Talking Book. (Miscellaneous info: You Haven't Done Nothing's got backing vocals from the Jackson 5 and has an unmistakeable "aoww" in the intro.)
The nine other songs are (as previously stated) not as anthemic, but are still very enjoyable for the most part (only Heven Is 10 Zillion Light Years Away feels somewhat off).
So, this is quite clearly an album worth listening to.
