0062. Wilco
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
It's labeled as alternative country / rock, but I can't hear much of the former (as usual this labeling thing isn't really for me). Some would probably call the music slightly chaotic, but I'd rather go with a bit disorganised. Cause there's not so much of a feeling that the band tries to out-noise eachother than them starting on something separately and then discovering that they're not alone in the studio and then go over to harmonizing.
And in the tradition of other american indie-bands like Dinosaur Jr it's a bit of out-of-tune singing on some tracks, but never as bad as Badly Drawn Boy, so I'll let it slide.
I can't see why the label dropped them after the recording of this album (okay, it's not a Dekka-level mistake, but still a miss). It's a good album. Maybe not great, but good.
Most noteworthy is probably Heavy Metal Drummer, a track which nested itself quite snugly in my head the very first time I heard it.
