0056. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Déjà Vu
So, what's the first thing to do we do when we add a member to the group? Lengthen the name and release an album. With the addition of Neil Young to the cast Crosby, Stills and Nash also added a different sound of voice to the three already there. Combine it with music that ranges from electrified pop to americana and it feels like a mixtape with a mission; When they don't harmonise the lead they take turns singing songs and it's kind of refreshing.
The one song I don't like is the cover of Joni Mitchells Woodstock, in an arrangement that doesn't add something to the song, but only removes it's hymn-like feeling (also the title track is kind of boring, but not so much it deserves a paragraph of its own). So if you want to listen to that song I recommend the original version or the one by Matthews Southern Comfort.
But apart from the (very) few songs that doesn't caress to my eardrums Déjà Vu is very well deserving of a place on the list of must-hears.
