0046. Al Green
Let's Stay together

the sleeve image for this album

Let's Stay Together could easily be the blueprint for a majority of the greater soul albums of the 70's. Just judging by how many singers there are who've modeled their vocal styles on Al Green this is a must hear album. Adding the number claiming him (and the title track) as one of their main inspirations into the equation and you'd err massively if you'd die without ever hearing it.

Al's delivery is alluring and I at times wish (just like everyone else) I could get it on with my voice like he does his (yeah, I'm a bit jealous).
But alas, no matter how much I want to sound like the man I'm not gonna put his album on the GotToGets (well, at least not just yet) and it's mostly due to the fact that while listening to Let's Stay Together I'm expecting Marvin Gaye's Let's Get It On to start playing. But I'll recommend it for anyone even remotely interested in good music or music history.
